The Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Canada is located in a historic residential district in Ottawa. The protected heritage building presented exceptionally demanding conditions for its transformation into a contemporary embassy and office environment. The renovation successfully balanced the preservation of the building’s architectural character with the functional and security requirements of a modern diplomatic mission, and was recognised with a Canadian Heritage Conservation Award.

The interior design concept was inspired by a unifying element deeply familiar to both northern cultures — snow. The spatial atmosphere and material palette draw from colours characteristic of Estonia, creating a calm and refined environment that reflects Estonian identity through contemporary design. Furniture and carpets by Estonian designers were integrated throughout the embassy, while all custom-made furniture was produced in Estonia.
